HUGE NEWS, but first, here’s a summary of this post:

  • My startup ReelwUrld now has a prestigious Lead Investor (brush off your shoulders as you read).
  • It’s NY Comic Con weekend, and I’m on a few podcasts representing our Justice For Hire App& show and the sport of Tai Chi Push Hands.
  • We’ve released the full version of our NYCC panel with industry leaders discussing audience participation in storytelling and revealing secrets from the world of fandom. Some questions we answer: was Wolverine created by a random fan, and where Homer went to advertise his stories in Ancient Greece, and more (this uncut panel is amazing and not to be missed if you work in media).

First up, I’m proud to announce that my social-filmmaking startup ReelwUrld has found its lead investor just in time for NY Comic Con, and his name is Ryan Kerrison. Insert celebratory emojis here _____.

Ryan is a former professional racer with a world-class athletic mindset, which led him and I to cross paths a few years back in my Tai Chi class at The Assemblage Park Ave. I was surprised (yet not) to later learn that Ryan founded two commercial production companies & talent agencies, sold one, and has a portfolio full of pristine content for some of the world’s biggest brands. He’s a big thinker across media that knows how to execute, so when Ryan offered to get involved in the ReelwUrld journey, it was an automatic “yeah, of course, absolutely, let’s do this!” Ryan coming on board has started the countdown to ReelwUrld’s equity crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder on October 29, when we’ll open our offering to the public. PLUS, his investment puts us over the minimum threshold to raise funds ($50K), a strong starting position for any campaign on WeFunder. Allowing anyone to own part of ReelwUrld is a key part of our mission to truly make movies and shows with the world.

To see what Ryan has to say about ReelwUrld (spoiler: we’re building the future of filmmaking), take a look at our WeFunder page and please consider vouching for us yourself:

https://wefunder.com/reelwurld

Please note, we’ll be updating this page regularly, offering perks to early investors before we go public, and more. You can follow our progress on WeFunder by pressing the heart button.

Next up, I’ll be talking about our current Justice For Hire Action Scene Competition in partnership with WarnerMedia’s Urban Action Showcase on That Phat Samurai Guy’s YouTube Channel live TONIGHT (Friday) at 9pm EST / 6pm PST. Then, live on Monday at 8pm EST / 5pm PST, I’ll be on TheDojo.com podcast talking about the future of Tai Chi, how it ties into my life as an entrepreneur and creator, and more.

Finally, as a NY Comic Con treat, we’ve released the uncut edition of the panel we did for NYCC Metaverse last year, featuring the world’s leading Transmedia producer Jeff Gomez, iconic “Star Wars” actor Ahmed Best, former Spider-Man comics Editor-in-Chief Danny Fingeroth, LARP pioneer Aaron Vanek, former Newsweek journalist/ReelwUrld cofounder Autumn Noel Kelly, and myself, DJ’d by the glorious cyberpunk band, Angelspit. You can watch here:

In the spirit of all the inspiring messages in that panel toward the return of the audience into mainstream storytelling, my team and I have a BOATLOAD of work to do to get ready for our WeFunder launch, so I’ll return to that now. As usual, thank you for the continued love and support. The volume on this journey is about to turn way up!

With Love,

Jan L.
